Carnival is Over

Finally Mom let me do a blog. The Carnival came and went without much difference here to us. Life for all of us here is much the same. It's seven days a week work for Mom and Dad and for us play, eat sleep and wait for the next dog to turn up. There is always one more and it normally doesn't take long for Mom to have to save one more. Poor old Guga has cystitis again and mom is giving him pills and weird red flakes called 'Cranberry' flakes. Ben has had an eye infection but he is better now that mom put ointment in his eyes for a week. Nina has settled in and turning into quite an athletic old dog sleeping on a table by the window. It upset me a bit because I like to look out of this window and now all I can see is the back of her head when I want to see what is going on.

I asked her politely to move. How is a guy supposed to see what's going on when all he can see is her black butt?

She turned around looked me in the eye and said 'Go away' but not as politely as that. She said she was waiting for an important call.

I told her 'with ears like that you don't need a telephone you can here everything for miles around'. She yawned and went to sleep. I was quite shocked. What a way to treat a nice guy like me. I only wanted to see out of the window a little. I will be plotting my revenge. Meanwhile I got promoted to be a food monitor here. I help Guga keep the rest at bay during meal preparation times. I am pretty good at this task even though I say it myself.

Here I am with Guga. I patrol the area well. Guga is watching Nina and I have an eye on Jessie in case she is tempted to try and sneak some food away.

This is my look out spot. I am the food sentry.

Sometimes I hide camouflaged under the table ready to strike if there is any dissent.

Guga watches the front lines.

If you take your eyes off them for a second then they break ranks and attack the food.

Sometimes I just herd them all inside and make them form an orderly queue. They have those in England Mom told me that.

Here are three of them in the queue. It's hard work but I enjoy it. The other dogs laugh when they see me in action.

Pluto always laughs at me!

Even grumpy old Daisy likes watching me do my new job. I got a great picture of Skye and her blue eyes. I made them turn red. I laughed a lot and she got quite mad.

Next thing I knew she tried to knock the camera from my paws with her paw.

Trooper had a good laugh at this.

The camera Hit me in the eye. I wasn't very pleased.

I decided to go hide under my blanket. Guga was nearly asleep tired from dinner patrol

He watched me rush past heading for my blanket

Then I took cover and hoped that the angry Skye wouldn't find me.

Of course she didn't it is one of my magic tricks. I do a few. Here is another.

One day I will tell you how I do it! Now finally Me and my girl.

Part two New Dogs

I am back to tell you about three new dogs that arrived here last week. First came two dogs together. One is Casper's brother. They have been waiting in an empty property for a long time to come and join us here. Mum and Dad saved six dogs from this property. One got adopted and five are here. They were all old except for Skye and her brother. Here are the first two.

Mom called these two Bill and Ben. Caspers brother looks just like Casper except in reverse coloring.

Skye and Ben know each other from the empty house where they all were.

There has been some really bad weather here and Mom had to bring the three of them indoors during a big storm because they were so frightened. Here they are the three Musketeers AKA Bill, Ben and Casper. They slept in the house that night, which made it ten in the house. Not counting the two humans.

Bill can run very fast just like Casper. I have to be careful what sort of tricks I play on those two because there is a chance they can catch me. Ben is a lot slower so no worries there. He is very nervous still and hasn't got used to my madness yet. Here is Ben

and here is Bill.

Everybody was very excited here. We felt like we already knew Bill and Ben because Casper had told us so much about them. The three of them had a reunion and are now together. They all sleep in the same house and on the same bed. Casper was missing her family so it was really good to see them together again.

Gracie barked a big welcome to them and then Pluto and Gracie had their own party. They never invited me though!

Cassie got an invite too!

Sam didn't because they said she was too muddy and Pluto doesn't like anything to do with the mud. That is probably why they didn't invite me because I am usually covered in mud.

Sam is usually muddy like me.

Gemma loves mud too and just look at my legs. Mom loves it when i come in like this.

Here is the wimp Pluto who hates the mud just look at his face.

Oscar also doesn't like the mud and got quite upset when I told him it would help clear up his wrinkles

Then a bit later in the week another dog arrived unexpectedly. We heard Mom talking to someone on the telephone about an abused dog and mom told us to be nice to her. She has been beaten, kicked, punched and finally they tried to strangle her, which is why someone who witnessed all this called mom and dad. Her name is Nina. Her owner went to hospital and they say she will never come out. Poor Nina was left with some very nasty humans.

She is also old and nervous.

She was very happy to get away from the man that beat her. Mom said when the man went to get her she peed on herself twice. The man told mom and dad 'She does that because she likes me so much'. Anyway I like Nina a lot. I have my sofa and she is going to get an armchair all to herself.

Finally here is Trooper wishing everyone a Happy Weekend.

Hope Went to the Rainbow Bridge

I couldn't blog for a while Mom was too busy and upset. Hope the paralyzed dog mom and dad rescued from a filthy pit died on Friday. She was very sick and Mom and Dad couldn't help her anymore. Emmy says she is doing fine at the rainbow bridge and can run faster than many others there now. I cried because she made me laugh. She had a good sense of humor and didn't mind my little jokes. Mom cried a lot. Emmy made a special journey back to try and help mom. Mom didn't know she was there but I did. Mom and Dad found Hope living like this.

She was covered in her own urine and feces and her face expresses the misery and discomfort from being burnt by urine and sore all over. She was extremely thin and lost all her fur on her rear end.

She was soon looking much better although the cancer couldn't be cured. She had two tumors removed but there were more and more growing. She was happy here.

Here she was recovering from surgery

She smiled a lot.

This was her on Christmas day. It was a special Christmas for her. The first and only one with love.

Now she is gone and we all miss her. Emmy says she is free of all the health problems she had. Mom's friend Sarah did this beautiful painting of her so we will never forget the beautiful Hope who came into our lives briefly.

Hope we all loved you.
Hope is there,

When I lay in the dirt
my back sore and bare..
you were there,

When I needed a hug
and someone to care..
you were there,

When I needed a savior
an angel on earth..
you were there,

When I couldn't walk another mile
when I'd long forgotten how to smile..
you were there,

When I hear you crying long into the night
when everything's wrong and nothing is right..
I am here,

When a days work never seems done
when your hands are sore from being wrung..
I am there,

When you miss my head upon your lap
when all the other dogs have their nap..
I'll be there,

When the storm winds blow
and the nights are so long..
please don't grieve for me..life goes on.

Although I'm at the bridge and out of sight
you'll hear my gentle paws on the floor at night,
I'll drop back and see you, when I'm strong
That's when you'll know 'Hope' lives on.

R.I.P Hope angel baby...run free in the fields of gold xxxx
